John Fanestil is the Executive Director of the Foundation for Change, a nonprofit organization funding grassroots groups in San Diego and Tijuana.  Born and raised in San Diego, Fanestil is a graduate of Dartmouth College, Oxford University – where he studied as a Rhodes Scholar – and the Claremont School of Theology.  An Elder in the United Methodist Church, he worked for thirteen years as a local church pastor, including four years at a bilingual church in the border town of Calexico, California.  In 2006 Doubleday published his first book, Mrs. Hunter’s Happy Death: Lessons on Living from People Preparing to Die.  His writing has also appeared in The Christian Century, A&U Magazine, The San Diego Union-Tribune, The Los Angeles Times, and The Guardian (London).
